As a multi-generational family business, Oberer Homes has been building homes and establishing neighborhoods since 1949. However, the design and content of the former website made it difficult to find a neighborhood, search floor plans or available homes.
Since 1949 Oberer Homes has been building custom and semi-custom homes in Dayton, Ohio. Beyond building homes, they have master-planned many of the suburban communities the Miami Valley enjoys. As a multi-generational family business they continue to grow and develop new neighborhoods and build new floorpans of their own design for Dayton families. However, the design and content of the former website made it difficult to find a neighborhood, search floor plans or available homes.
With over 75 unique floor plan designs, several neighborhoods, and lots of other supporting content – the challenge lying ahead was to create an information architecture that was easy to navigate, allowed for growth, and enhanced user engagement. After a lengthy discovery, we created several information architecture (IA) concepts for discussion and testing. These IA concepts led to the creation of high fidelity user experience (UX) wireframes which we tested and refined before proceeding with the polished design of the user interface (UI).
With a new information architecture and UI/UX design approved we developed the responsive website on the latest version of ExpressionEngine allowing Oberer’s marketing team to own and manage every aspect of their content. The project proved to be a challenge with unique considerations and big goals but we were able to meet Oberer’s needs and streamline their website management while improving the overall user experience.
Homepage Design
As the main entry to the website, the homepage needed to inspire the user to dig deeper. We identified several pathways users search when looking to buy or build a new home and brought these items to the surface in a visual way to increase user engagement.
Community/Neighborhood Landing Pages
Each of Oberer's communities is unique and offers several amenities. The community landing pages needed to present all of this information while providing mechanisms for users to search or filter floorplans and move-in ready homes.
Floorplan Information Pages
With several details and options, the floorplan information pages are a complex design presenting details, pricing, and options based on the user's selection, neighborhood and availability.
We started our website redesign process with a vague idea of what we wanted (and didn’t want) but no real plan as to how to get there. Antistatic jumped right in and were there every step of the way, providing direction and creative design solutions that brought our ideas to life and really captured the essence of our company and our vision. Every deadline was met and our expectations were more than exceeded. Antistatic worked within our budget to provide a truly personalized, custom designed website. The end result is a visually stunning site that showcases our products perfectly.

Community's Available Lots
One of the unique elements we were able to create for Oberer is a lot selection tool for each community. Here a user can see available lots, make a selection and view which homes can be build on their selected lots.
