An indepth strategic planning process revealed that a complete website overhaul was needed in order for The CERN Foundation to better serve the ependymoma cancer community.
Established in 2006, the CERN Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of those affected with ependymoma, a rare form of cancer. Thanks to the efforts of their international network of collaborators, the CERN Foundation has been responsible for the publication of over 50 peer-reviewed papers in leading medical journals. This body of research has greatly advanced our understanding of ependymoma and has left a lasting legacy for future investigators to build upon. Today, the CERN Foundation continues to advance ependymoma research by supporting scientific fellowships, clinical trials, sponsoring professional conferences and symposia, and investigating risk factors for the disease.
In 2016 CERN had identified several areas of their previous website that needed to be rethought and realized they needed to make a change. After several discussions, they selected Antistatic as their partner for the website redesign process. We shepherded their leadership through several discovery and strategy sessions and helped address several areas of their marketing communications in the process. With clear direction for their communications and web strategy, we were able to create a user-friendly and scalable information architecture for the new website. On this foundation we explored the user interface design through wireframes and polished design concepts and ultimately built the responsive website on ExpressionEngine. The ExpressionEngine content management platform allows them to easily update, edit, and add content, images and video with ease. The result of CERN’s website redesign has been simple and user-friendly content management, an evocative design, and greater engagement with their audience.

Working with Antistatic Design was a great experience for our non-profit. We had launched two previous versions of our website, and this entire process from cost, time, design guidance, and project management was superior. We were given immediate customer service throughout the entire process, not just in the beginning stages. Mark Wells and his team were quickly able to understand our vision and needs and they were able to present helpful solutions and apply those into an cohesive website that will help provide tremendous value to our community. We are so excited to bring an effective solution to our community of people dealing with a rare central nervous system tumor who need education, awareness, and referral information. I would highly recommend using Antistatic Design for your brand and website communication needs.
